Connect a Slack workspace

Create the Slack app from the manifest cyantula gives you, then paste the bot token and signing secret.

One bot for the whole workspace

In the portal: Setup wizard, the Slack step, or Admin, Settings, Slack

cyantula sends owners their notifications as a Slack message, with buttons to approve or decline. Published apps borrow the same bot, so nobody registers a bot per app. Without Slack, notifications go by mail.

Create the Slack app

You need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. The Slack page in cyantula shows a manifest with your server's address already in it.

  1. Open api.slack.com/apps, click Create New App, From an app manifest, and pick your workspace.
  2. Copy the manifest from cyantula and paste it on the JSON tab.
  3. Click Create, then Install to Workspace, and approve.
  4. Copy OAuth & Permissions, Bot User OAuth Token (it starts with xoxb-) into Slack bot token.
  5. Copy Basic Information, Signing Secret into Slack signing secret. Without it the bot can message people, but cannot offer buttons.

Optional: Slack workspace ID (it starts with T) makes cyantula refuse clicks that come from any other workspace.

Colleagues link their own Slack account under Profile, Slack.
